Historic Street Signage Project

The historic signs project was initiated by Sam Waller Museum staff during the summer of 2019. The objective of the project was to provide the community with information regarding the history of individuals that have streets named after them in the town. Other objectives were to contribute to the community’s beautification, provide community members a sense of pride about the history of the town, and educate visitors to the region about the Town’s history. Many of the streets were named after major founding persons of The Pas and area. Historical themes included Indigenous members, Métis, and individuals responsible for the Town’s incorporation in 1912. Finally, the project was done to raise awareness about the Sam Waller Museum and its collection, thereby potentially increasing visitor numbers to the museum.

This project was funded by a grant through the Heritage Grants Program through the Manitoba Government and the local Destination Marketing Committee.
