Hugh J. Macdonald was a lawyer, soldier, and politician in Manitoba in the late 19th century. The only surviving son of Sir John A. Macdonald, Hugh J. Macdonald served as Manitoba’s premier in 1900 and held various other political positions including police magistrate for Winnipeg.
