Harry Trager was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and eventually moved to The Pas in 1940 to work for Ben Dembinsky. He was an active member of the community. He was elected as mayor of The Pas in 1959 and served until he was defeated in 1971. He was an advocate for northern life and the fur trade, representing the community to many dignitaries that passed through The Pas.
