This street is named after the McGillivray family from the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. Family members have been chiefs, farmers, WWI soldiers, and traders. Notable members include Chief Louie McGillivray, and Rod McGillivray who was an interpreter for the Canadian government. The McGillivray family played a large role in the building of the McGillivray Care Home.
