Stewart

Originally from Scotland, James Stewart (c. 1881-1941) was a notable businessman who moved to Winnipeg in 1906 and initially worked for an elevator company. His firm, Stewart and Grant, constructed the railway between The Pas and Winnipeg. He was a Commissioner for the first Wheat Board in Canada from 1919 – 1921 and was very involved in the wheat and grain industry.
