Orange Barred Sulfur Butterfly

This specimen is a male with bright yellow fore wings which have a wide orange bar in the centre hind wing with orange along the lower margin. Each upper wing has a small orange splotch. The body and head are black with yellow hair. The underside is yellow and the antennae are brown. The top part of the wings also has a very thin brown edge. The fore wing has a narrow black border, small black cell spot and small brownish spots. The common name for this specimen is the yellow wing butterfly. It originates from the province of Puyo in Ecuador. The specimen was collected in 2 August 1950.
