Prussian Helmet

This From the Vault feature is a gray wool German helmet with a metal spike sitting on top of the helmet. There is a coat of arms on the front with an eagle holding a scepter in its claw and a symbol of the Germany flag (before World War II). There is a metal strip down the back of the helmet. There is also a metal strip around the edge of the helmet. It has a brown leather interior with a chinstrap fastened by metal buttons. Around coat of arms the following is embossed in the middle: “MIT.GOTT.FUR.KOENIG.UND.VATERLAND”. “F” is also embossed in middle.

On the original donation card from Harry Moody, it states this is possibly were the helmet was acquired. Mr Moody worked at the Beaver Lake Museum, which is located at Denare Beach.
