This flight bag is brown stiff leather, with two leather handles, two metal clasps and a lock on top. It has an address plate sewn on the side near the top. Inside the address plate is a piece of white paper that reads: “D.B. (Donald) Lamb Vice President / The Pas, Manitoba”. On the same side is a blue, orange and red round sticker that reads “LAMB AIRWAYS LIMITED / SAFETY, COMFORT, SPEED”. On the other side are the remains of a sticker from a boat trip from Liverpool, England to Canada. The approximate date range of use for the bag is from 1920 to 1975. This bag belonged to Donald Lamb, and was previously owned by Tom Lamb, founder of Lamb Airways (also known as LambAir) and father of Donald. Tom incorporated Lamb Airways in 1935 as a charter airline based out of The Pas whose motto was “Do not ask us where we fly…Tell us where you want to go.” All six of Tom’s sons became pilots and managed the airline after his death in 1969. The Lamb family were important contributors to the development of Northern Manitoba, and this flight bag would have seen much of the family business as it was used by Tom and later Donald Lamb on travels throughout North America and the world.
